AI-POWERED VOICE HEADSET TECHNOLOGY SET TO TRANSFORM STORE OPERATIONS FOR GERMAN RETAILERS

(IN BRIEF) Quail Digital has launched its Pro12 retail headset system for German retailers, presenting it as an AI-powered, voice-driven tool to improve store operations. The wearable system connects staff to a central “store brain,” allowing them to check stock, pricing, product locations, alerts, and service requests through voice commands while staying focused on customers. The company says Pro12 can reduce wasted time, unnecessary movement, fragmented communication, and response delays, while also supporting secure in-store communications amid rising retail theft concerns in Europe and Germany. Quail Digital is also promoting Quail Connect, a lighter communication platform for smaller stores with up to six users.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 26-May-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — The future of retail operations will be voice-driven, AI-connected, and built around a single wearable device for store teams.

That is the view of digital tech headsets maker Quail Digital, which has launched its new Pro12 retail headset system to help German retailers reduce wasted time, improve in-store communication and strengthen security.

The system gives colleagues instant voice-led access to operational intelligence through an AI-powered ‘store brain’ which connects and organises all the operational data and decision-making tools inside a retail store.

Recently previewed to the European retail sector at EuroShop 2026 in Dusseldorf in February earlier this year, the Pro12 retail headset system combines speech recognition, secure communications, operational alerts, and real-time collaboration into one integrated retail system.

Quail Digital says the technology has been designed specifically to address one of the biggest operational challenges facing retailers across Germany and Europe – enabling faster decision-making on the shop floor without disrupting customer service.

At the centre of the platform is voice-led access to an AI-powered ‘store brain’, allowing colleagues to retrieve and share information instantly while remaining fully focused on customers and in-store tasks.

Using integrated speech recognition, store teams can check stock availability, product locations, pricing, operational alerts, and service requests in real time through simple voice commands. Tom Downes, CEO of Quail Digital says this reduces ‘unnecessary walking, repeated tasks, radio traffic, and delays in customer response’ – helping retailers to ‘improve both efficiency and service levels’.

“Voice is the fastest and most natural way for colleagues to interact with technology while remaining engaged with customers,” said Mr Downes. “Speech recognition allows store teams to access information immediately, make quicker decisions, and respond faster to operational issues without interrupting the customer experience.

“Pro12 effectively becomes the voice layer between the store team and the retailer’s wider AI ecosystem – enabling smarter stores, faster actions, and more connected retail operations.

“German retailers are increasingly focused on simplifying operations for store colleagues while improving productivity and customer experience at the same time. Too much time is still lost every day through fragmented communication, unnecessary journeys across the store, and delays in accessing information. Pro12 has been designed to remove those barriers through faster, clearer, and more intelligent communication.

“Retailers are also under pressure to deliver measurable savings and efficiency gains across large store estates. By reducing device complexity, streamlining communication workflows, and improving response times, Pro12 helps retailers operate more efficiently while supporting better service standards on the shop floor.”

Mr Downes says the manufacturer’s ‘one device’ strategy was becoming increasingly relevant as retailers invest further in connected store technologies and AI-enabled operations. It also has a communication platform specifically for smaller retail stores called ‘Quail Connect’ which is designed typically for stores with up to six users without the complexity or cost of larger enterprise systems.

He said: “The future retail environment will rely on colleagues having immediate access to operational intelligence wherever they are in the store. Our vision is to bring communications, operational alerts, AI-driven information access, and team collaboration together through one wearable device and one unified platform.

“Our Quail Connect lightweight system particularly suited to convenience retailers, independents, and smaller-format stores looking to improve communication and day-to-day store operations which is easy to install, low maintenance, and scalable as stores grow.”

Security has also been a major development priority for the Pro12 retail headset system, according to Quail Digital. Retailers in Europe are facing a growing challenge, with shop theft continuing to rise in 2025.

According to the European Retail Crime Survey by the European Retailers Association (ERA), retail crime in the region is projected to cost the industry €50 billion annually. In Germany, the German Retail Association (HDE) reports a significant uptick in shoplifting incidents, with a 20% increase in the past year alone.

“In Germany particularly, retailers are placing a strong emphasis on secure infrastructure and controlled communications environments,” said Mr Downes.

“Pro12 has been built as a professional retail system with secure communications at its core, allowing retailers to maintain operational control without relying on consumer-grade devices or unsecured applications.”
